
Duke Energy says it earned $509 million, or 74 cents per diluted share, in the second quarter. That is less than $543 million, or 78 cents per share, the company earned a year ago in the same quarter. But allowing for one-time charges Duke’s adjusted earnings for the quarter were better than in 2015.
