New renewable resource in the wind for Duke Energy Carolinas

Duke Energy Carolinas plans to purchase up to 500 megawatts worth of wind power capacity as a renewable-energy source of electricity by 2022, and has asked wind developers for bids to provide it. The utility is willing to sign power purchase agreements for up to 20 years, under the terms of the request for proposals it announced Tuesday.
