Aided by lower operating costs, steelmaker Nucor Corp. reported an 87% jump in net profit during the second quarter. For the quarter ending July 2, the Charlotte-based company beat analysts' estimates by posting net income of $233.8 million. or 73 cents per share, which is up from $124.8 million, or 39 cents per share, from the second quarter in 2015.
