Charlotte housing starts soared in Q4 2015; lot shortage persists

A recent report by housing research firm Metrostudy showed new-home construction in the Charlotte area surged in the fourth quarter of 2015 from a year earlier. Housing starts jumped 19.6% in the final three months of 2015 from Q4 2014, as homebuilders began construction on 2,457 new homes. Quarterly closings, defined as previously vacant new homes that are now occupied, rose 10.1% to total 2,523 units, according to the Metrostudy survey.
