Sonic Automotive Inc. says it had record earnings in the third quarter in a rapid recovery from weakness imposed early in the year by the Covid-19 pandemic. The Charlotte-based automotive dealer reported net income of $59.8 million, or $1.35 per diluted share, on $2.55 billion in revenue in the quarter.
