Gov. Cooper vetoes five bills dealing with pandemic, keeping North Carolina bars and gyms closed

The battle between Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper and North Carolina's Republican-controlled General Assembly over reopening businesses during the coronavirus pandemic continued last week as the governor vetoed four bills that would have overridden his orders and another that would curtail a governor's ability to issue such orders.
