There's some uncertainty about whether both of the local developers that teamed up to map out a big project in west Charlotte are still working on it. River District, which covers nearly 1,400 acres between the Catawba River and Charlotte Douglas International Airport, was touted by executives at Crescent Communities and Lincoln Harris in 2016 as the last frontier for a large-scale, mixed-use development opportunity — akin to a Ballantyne — in Charlotte.
