Duke Energy: Michael could cause significant power outages in the Carolinas

Duke Energy Corp. warns that Tropical Storm Michael could knock out power for up to 500,000 customers as it sweeps through the Carolinas today. Duke Energy Progress and Duke Energy Carolinas have 6,000 workers — including line technicians, damage assessors and tree specialists — in the state prepared to respond to the storm’s impact.
