S.C. regulators ‘blindsided’ by ‘devastating’ decision to abandon V.C. Summer expansion

S.C. Electric & Gas says its preferred option of completing just one of the two proposed reactors at the V.C. Summer Nuclear Station would cost $12.9 billion. That would be less than the $14 billion fixed-price commitment the SCANA Corp. (NYSE:SCG) got approved by regulators more than a year ago, and so SCE&G considered it a reasonable option.
