Whitewater Center takes steps toward lowering risk of brain-eating amoeba

More than a month has passed since the U.S. National Whitewater Center in Charlotte suspended its rafting activities after the death of a teenager was caused by a brain-eating amoeba found in the facility's waters. In a statement issued Wednesday, the center says the process of disinfecting and discharging water from the system starts today in an effort to soon reopen that feature.
