The U.S. Department of Justice and state of North Carolina have filed a civil antitrust lawsuit against Carolinas HealthCare System. That lawsuit states Charlotte consumers face higher health-care costs and fewer choices because of efforts by the Charlotte-based health-care system to prevent competition.
