State Sen. Hartsell of Concord indicted on campaign finance allegations

Fletcher Hartsell of Concord, the N.C. Senate’s longest-serving member, was indicted today by a county grand jury on allegations of campaign finance misdeeds. The Wake County grand jury indicted 69-year-old Hartsell for signing campaign finance documents that contained false information. The indictment follows a News & Observer series that contended Hartsell spent more than $100,000 from his campaign to pay for personal expenses from 2009 to 2012.
