End of an era for Belk: CEO Tim Belk to retire in July

Belk Inc. CEO Tim Belk will leave the company less than a year after it was acquired in a $3 billion deal by New York-based Sycamore Partners. Belk — the third generation of his family to lead the Charlotte-based retail chain — has been CEO of the company since May 2004.
