Duke Energy exec leaving for job at Calpine Corp.

Charlie Gates, Duke Energy’s chief hydro and fossil fuel power officer, is leaving the Charlotte company to become executive vice president of power operations at Houston-based Calpine Corp. He starts at Calpine (NYSE:CPN) April 1.He remains at Duke until then. Gates had 34 years experience with Duke (NYSE:DUK) and before that, Raleigh-based Progress Energy.
