Charlotte ranks high for growth of women-owned businesses

Charlotte ranked No. 10 among cities nationwide where the number of women-owned businesses increased the fastest from 2007 to 2012, according to a new study from the Center for an Urban Future. The number of women-owned businesses in Charlotte increased 50% during this time period, nearly double the rate of the national average (27%) and the rate of male-owned businesses in Charlotte (22.2%).
