Another 1,250 jobs to be cut from local Freightliner plants

The Portland, Ore.-based truck manufacturer Daimler Trucks North America says it will cut an additional 1,250 jobs from two local Freightliner plants this week as truck sales continue to decline. The biggest hit comes at the Mount Holly plant where 700 employees will be laid off, leaving about 1,450 there. At the huge, big-truck plant in Rowan County, 550 jobs will be cut, trimming the workforce in the town of Cleveland to about 1,600. There Daimler Trucks North America will also cut a production…
